"Patent Pending - BAE Systems"

The latest advances in combat-certified laser technology are found in this weapon. Deals searing damage to units with thick armor.

The AER138 Laser Rifle is an experimental weapon that fires super heated bursts of plasma. Theses weapons are very rare and can only be found during specific points in the game. These rifles are among the strongest of all weapons against single targets, but that power comes at a cost. Laser rifles have a very high rate of fire and little splash. This means high ammo consumption, which also means frequent reloading. Conservative use is required on higher difficulties.

Dr. Bergmann will always drop two AER128 Laser Rifles on Easy Company when the Laboratory is activated. On Alpha Company, Dr.Tanaka will always drop an AER138 Laser Rifle in addition to an M5 Pulse Rifle after the battle with Cronus.

The AER138 Laser Rifle is nearly unmatched in damage output against Eos the Zombie Queen and Hades (Second Form). It also performs quite well vs Cerberus as long as there is not a Surveillance Recon using Heartbeat Sensor and Laser Designator.

Reverse ArmorEdit

A Laser Rifle has the unique ability of dealing more damage the more armored the target creature is. This translates in statistics to a 2 damage gain for every armor point that the target has. This, combined with the high fire rate of the weapon, means that it can quickly destroy heavily armored targets, but at the same time, its low base damage and no additional bonuses means that it performs poorly against targets with only a few points of armor. Note: marine buffs (such as surgical strike) affect the base damage (26) not the final damage.
