When the player dies they will gain a pet. This pet has only 1 life. The pet gains experience with kills and when it levels up it will gain a bonus. Pets do receive the large in game experience bonuses awarded by killing Bosses and Infestors. Players with a pet still alive also half the Experience rewarded from completing missions and winning a campaign. Pets also gain more XP when fighting with team members. Finally, dead players with a Pet alive gain 75% of the credits gained in that game.

Differences in Leveling

In Recruit Mode, Pets will gain (in game) experience 5% faster than in Normal Mode or Nightmare. This is to encourage low Experience players to continue playing as their pet, even if they die in the later stages of the Campaign.

Starting Skills

Sprint

(Z) - Increases movespeed by 35% for 5 seconds. 10 second cooldown. 10 energy cost.

Team Locator

(Q) - Pings location of all teammates for 5 seconds. 5 second cooldown. 2 energy cost.

Cloak

(E) - Activates a personal cloak that lasts for 8 seconds. 10 second cooldown. 10 energy cost.

Lightning Field

(D) - The Pet unleashes a deadly field of electricity in a 1.5 radius. Deals 30 damage and completely penetrates armor. 0.5 second cooldown. 2 energy cost.

Level Bonuses

Each level also grants a 5% increase to maximum health, and a 40% increase to maximum shields, and a 10% increase to maximum energy. Leveling a Pet to level 10 grants the player 5 Experience as a reward.

  • 2 - +3 vision range
  • 3 - +2 armor
  • 4 - Stealth Detection
  • 5 - Backstab (+50% damage when attack hits target's rear)
  • 6 - +2 armor (4 total)

Level 7 and higher can only be obtained by players with 5000 or more Experience.

  • 7 - Pet attack upgraded to Piranha Missiles. Targets Air and Ground Units. (35 damage, 2 attacks, 5 range, 0.7 speed)
  • 8 - +2 armor (6 total)
  • 9 - Radar (Identical to Level 1 Motion Sensor)
  • 10 - Blink (10 range, 5 energy, 10 second cooldown)
  • 11 - Cloaking field
  • 12 - Grown to epic proportions
