The most common of the infested, Zombies are slow moving and easily outwitted. Zombies are the infested former residents of the Apollo Mining Colony. Although slow and weak, their strength lies in sheer numbers. The best way to deal with hordes of Zombies is a weapon with high splash and damage to light units. Weapons like the flamethrower, SMG, and Shotgun work well at mowing down hordes of Zombies.

Zombies make up the majority of ambient mobs, and can be found at all point during each campaign. They are particularly common at the beginning of the Easy Company, and form the bulk of the hordes fought at the Mining Colony, Military Base, and Airlock. Zombies are also supplemented by Seekers, Gargoyles, and Stalkers during Chapter 2 of Easy Company. They also make up a large portion of forces fought during Dome A. Zombies can be found at most points during all three campaigns and survival.

When a Zombie dies, it is very common for a Ghoul to spawn from the Zombie corpse. Exercise caution. Ghouls are weak, but extremely quick and can easily score a few hits.

In higher level games, ambient zombie spawns will have increased attack damage. Level 2 Zombie Claws will do 50% more damage.
